Next to his family and friends, Bruce loved his glorious Northville where he was a lifelong resident. Bruce was quite the storyteller and served as Northville's historian for most of his life. He is recognized on the cover of the latest History of Northville book and has been awarded "Man of the Year" honors.

Bruce graduated from Northville High School in 1937 where he was President of his class and Athlete of the Year. He played college basketball and attended Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University. He was a proud Marine during WWII. After the war, Bruce owned and operated a family business, Northville Electric Shop, in downtown Northville. As a lifelong member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Bruce coached football, basketball, and boxing. He also served as their first athletic director.
