George A. DuFour served with the United States Army Corps, now known as the Air Force, during World War II and served overseas for two years in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre. He returned to his wife and two young children in 1946, and went on to become a successful executive with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
He and his wife, Maureen, had nine more children and were married for 67 years before Maureen's death in 2006. When George died at the age of ninety-five, he left behind 11 children, 23 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
