Rick was a Crew Chief on a KC-135A plane. Their mission was to provide air refueling to the bomber, fighter and reconnaissance aircraft in the Vietnam War. 
Crew Chiefs were responsible for all maintenance performed on aircrafts determining if they were airworthy to fly the intended mission. Crew Chiefs were subject to travel the world whenever the KC135A was deployed to a station. Rick was in the Air Force from 1968 to 1972, being assigned to many temporary duties lasting anywhere from one week to six months. Home Base was Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota  where his wife and son anxiously waited for his return on each and every mission.
