Frank P. Biondo proudly served in the US Army Air Corps. After graduation from St. Catherine’s High School in Detroit, he enlisted in August 1943. He quickly climbed the ranks to Staff Sergeant. Frank was a ball turret gunner with the 42nd Bomb Squadron in a B-24 Liberator, primarily in the Philippines and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged after the war in January 1946.
He returned home to Detroit, and soon after began a long career as a designer with GM in June 1946. Later that year, he met the love of his life, Doris, and they were married in 1947. They raised five children, followed by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Frank passed away in 2019 at the age of 95. Along with his marriage and his ever-expanding family, Frank’s service to his country remained among his proudest accomplishments.
