Norbert participated in the initial landing operation on Leyte Island, Philippines and adjoining islands from October 17-20, 1944. He was also involved in the continuing effort of the Philippine Liberation against the Japanese.

He was married just 20 days shy of 70 years to his beautiful wife, Bernice, at the time of his passing on June 8, 2017. He was 95 years old. He was a resident of Northville, and a Ford Motor Company retiree. His daughter, Noreen, and son-in-law, Jeff Metz, also reside in Northville.

Norbert is the epitome of a member of the "Greatest Generation." Thank you for all you did for your country and your family! We love you and miss you every day.
