Our father never spoke much about his war service as a Supply Sergeant in Fairbanks, Alaska. The attack on Pearl Harbor took place six days after his 18th birthday and he would later see two of his brother's serve. From history, we know that the Aleutian Islands of the Alaska territory were taken over by the Empire of Japan in June of 1942 and occupied for nearly a year before being taken back, the only US territory lost during the war. The men he served with meant quite a bit to him as he would stay in touch and attend reunions. He taught us quite a bit during his lifetime, most importantly love of God, love of country, and love of family.
We love and miss you Dad, thanks again for your service to our country.
