• Honoring Vilfredo Palombella

  • Vilfredo Palombella immigrated from Gagliano Aterno, Italy to Detroit in 1937, and five years later was drafted into the US Army during World War Two and served as a Private First Class. He served in the 34th Infantry Division in the Italian campaign, seeing action in Anzio, Cassino, and other battles. He was awarded the Soldier's Medal for saving his Company Commander's life.

    Vilfredo married Realina Palmieri in 1946 and raised three children: Cynthia, Wilfred, and Gloria, now a Northville resident. He passed away in 2013 and his family honors his service.
