Al Heatley, Jr. was born and raised in Northville and graduated from Northville High School in 1944. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy on July 28, 1944. He was sent to Great Lakes, IL for training and was stationed in the Pacific.

There he was trained with particular responsibilities for steering and signals as a quartermaster on the USS LST 877. Before he was honorably discharged on March 6, 1946, Al earned several prestigious medals, including the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign, Point System and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal (1 Star).

We thank him for his service and sacrifice; we are so proud.
